CLA job talk info

Posted in presentations, Uncategorized, web tools by Julian on November 4, 2009

So on November 1 I gave a little job talk at CLA (California Library Association). So I’m going to share my slides and some tips from the audience in this post. I would like to preface this post with the fact that my computer crashed at 9pm the night before [uh, yeah it was Halloween and I def had no fun] and I had to rewrite all my slides and notes over, ok. So yeah, the audience felt sorry for me.

Liz Yeh had a great job searching tip she shared with me. She informed me that you can set up a Daily Job Alert at Indeed.com. One that she recommends is an alert for “Master’s Library information science” Great tip Liz! If you have more, please share in the comments and I’ll repost it in the next blog entry.

Indeed is the best! I get lots of librarian postings that don’t appear on the regular library job boards. I also do alerts for “Librarian”, “archivist”, “researcher”, and “instructional design” and then set them up for different cities that I want to work in.

Sweet, how about “knowledge wizard” or “information contortionist”?
